Under 5 Care and Learning is a learning community made up of children, their families/whanau, teachers and support staff. We learn together and from each other in a safe, supportive and caring environment. We nurture a sense of belonging in adults and children and everyone is encouraged to be confident in their own learning.
We welcome all children, respecting their cultures and learning abilities. We aim to develop partnerships with their families and the wider community through open communication and trusting relationships.
We acknowledge Maori as Tangata Whenua of Aotearoa/New Zealand and through our practice demonstrate the way bicultural perspectives can enrich the lives of all New Zealanders.
We believe that together with knowledge and skills, attitudes such as curiosity, perseverance, risk taking and problem solving are paramount in preparing learners for the future. Independence, appropriate self care, good manners and taking responsibility are encouraged. Having fun is vital.
By following the early childhood curriculum Te Whariki and through play, time and space to explore and a well resourced environment we foster awareness and knowledge of literacy, numeracy, science, technology and the arts.
